the year is 2056.
The average speed for automobiles iss 80mph.
Carole got in to vehicle. She had her special barefoot driving pass in hand.
With a barefoot driving pass, you could travel at 110mph using the new sense-a-pedal. These were designed to feel your mood, and raise the engine speed accoridng to what you wanted.
Everyone didn't barefoot get driving passes. You had to complete a special course. But these passes were often traded on the black market.
Carole had gotten hers through such a process.
These passes had special instructions:
On the front, were a silluette of two barefeet, with the following
- WARNING, HIGH SPEEDS. USE BOTH FEET TO BRAKE
-KEEP BEALTS ON AT ALL TIMES
Carole slipped off her shoes, exposing her bare feet. She opened the sens-a-pedal compartment with her toe nails, and slipped her right foot in.
Just inside beyond the pedal, was a small button. Carole reached for it with her toe, fealt it, and pushed it in, starting the car.
On the left side of the floor board, was a toe lever, for shifting the vehicle in hear. She pushed her toes through the holes on top, and shifted into reverse.
